The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Canada is appalled and strongly condemns the action of a section of the Media for depicting and publishing a disrespectful caricature the Holy Prophet of Islam.


The Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad while delivering the Friday Sermon today from London, England, said that reaction to these publications clearly shows how Muslim, around the world, were deeply hurt. However, boycott and sabotage is not the way to respond to provocation.


He said that the ‘West’ has developed an apathetic stance towards religion and has lost all sense of sanctity for it. It is most unfortunate that the misguided reaction of certain Muslim leaders gives the West the chance to take political advantage of the situation.


The Head of the Community stated that we are hurt the most; however, our response is peaceful. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes that Muslims around the world should respond with better human qualities of respect and tolerance and should not resort to violence in any shape and form. The Holy Prophet Muhammad taught us not to respond with hate. We should take up the pen to bring out the most beautiful teachings of Islam to the world.


Mr. Naseem Mahdi, President of the Canadian branch of the Ahmadiyya Community described the offending depiction of the Prophet Muhammad as "mockery of the freedom of expression and against any sense of decency." "The world should know that slander against any Prophet of God should not be tolerated.”


Mr. Mahdi said that in response to slander we will educate the world about the noble character of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and will present the real picture of Islam that teaches peace, tolerance and respect for all religions. “Instead of demolishing embassies and burning flags, we will ignite the fire of love for the Holy Prophet in hearts”, he said.
