Muslim convention to explore current challenges... Islam versus Loyalty to Country!



MISSISSAUGA, ON, July 7 /CNW/ - Ahmadi Muslims, guest and international
delegates will gather at the International Center in Mississauga (Derry and
Airport Road) for their three-day annual Jalsa Salana convention. This event
is expected to attract over 20 thousand delegates. The event will begin today
at 5:00pm.



Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (also known as the Ahmadiyya Movement in
Islam), the Messianic and missionary branch of Islam, has a spiritual
following of 200 million spread in over 174 countries. Its founder, Hadhrat
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) was the Messiah and Mahdi of Islam as
prophesied by the Holy Prophet of Islam Muhammad (on him be peace) 14
centuries ago.



Islamic scholars and educationists will deliver speeches on a range of
topics such as punishment of apostasy according to Islam and reconciling faith
with loyalty to one's country. Both of these topics will be covered by Maulana
Naseem Mahdi, President & Missionary-in-Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim
Community in Canada.



Other topics which will be discussed include various aspects of the
Quranic teachings, life and character of the Holy Prophet of Islam and that of
the Promised Messiah. An all encompassing speech on Islam: its meaning for
modern mankind is scheduled for Sunday, July 9.



A number of Canadian dignitaries will attend the convention over the
course of the three-day event and will address the conference especially on
Sunday, July 9. These dignitaries will come from a wide range of the Canadian
society, federal Ministers (former and present), MPs, MPPs, Mayors, City
Councillors and community representatives. Federal Minister Stockwell Day will
join the stage on Friday.
