Canadian Muslim Community Stands Against Discrimination Based on Religion

Amidst heightened global tensions, Ahmadi Muslims concerned about the targeting of certain groups

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada supports Canada in welcoming those who are fleeing from persecution and war. It recognizes the need for countries to implement screening and security measures during the immigration process. However, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at is concerned that these security measures should not be discriminatory towards people of any specific race, region, creed or religion.

Canada is a shining example of a country that, while remaining vigilant in its security measures during the immigration process, takes a positive and reasonable approach in accepting refugees with open arms and helping them successfully integrate. Canada endeavours to abide by its core values of inclusivity and diversity, and continues be a safe haven for those fleeing persecution and terror.

“It is very concerning to us that the world is embroiled in increased global conflict. Countries should follow the example of Canada in providing a ray of hope for those who are suffering due to persecution and war,” said Mr. Lal Khan Malik, National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada. “We as Ahmadi Muslims believe that service to humanity should be without any regard to race, region, creed or religion. We take great pride that, in the face of this global conflict, Canada continues to be fair and just in its dealings with all people during the immigration process and opens its arms to those in need of refuge.”
