Canadian Muslims Congratulate Malala Yousafzai on receiving honorary Canadian citizenship

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at commends Malala Yousafzai for continued efforts towards building peace

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada congratulates Malala Yousafzai on the auspicious occasion of becoming an honorary Canadian citizen. Malala Yousafzai spoke at the Canadian Parliament on April 12th where she received the honorary Canadian citizenship. Malala’s message focused on girls’ education, while she emphasized to the joint session of Parliament that “…Islam is a religion of learning, compassion and mercy”.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada commends Malala Yousafzai for her efforts in improving women’s education. In Islam, the Holy Prophet Muhammad has instructed his followers, both men and women, to seek education from the cradle to the grave.

Malala Yousafzai is the second Nobel laureate from Pakistan. Similarly, Pakistan’s first Nobel laureate, Professor Dr. Abdus Salam had to leave Pakistan because of relentless persecution due to his Ahmadi Muslim faith.

“On this occasion, we would like to congratulate Malala Yousafzai on becoming an honorary Canadian citizen,” says National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada, Mr. Lal Khan Malik. “The morals and values which she advocates truly resonate with the fabric of Canadian society.”
