Who is the Caliph

Who is the Caliph

You’ve seen him meeting Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Parliament Hill. You’ve seen him in an exclusive interview with Peter Mansbridge, Canada’s most prominent journalist. You’ve seen him addressing thought-leaders at York University.

But who is he?

He is the Caliph, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat. His Holiness is the world’s leading Muslim figure promoting peace and interreligious harmony. His community, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, is the world's largest Muslim community united under a single leader.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at is a dynamic, fast-growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at spans over 206 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited messiah has come in the person of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India. The community believes that God sent Ahmad, like Jesus, to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and reinstitute morality, justice and peace.

His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, is the Fifth Caliph (spiritual successor) to Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah. A Caliph or ‘Khalifa’ is a successor to a Prophet who carries on his mission and serves as the spiritual and administrative head of his community.

The Caliph, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, leads a worldwide campaign to convey the true and peaceful teachings of Islam. He has delivered keynote addresses at renowned global venues such as Capitol Hill, the UK House of Parliament, the European Parliament and most recently, Parliament Hill here in Canada.

Under his leadership, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at is engaged in global grassroots efforts to propagate the true and peaceful message of Islam. It has built over 16,000 mosques, over 500 schools, and over 30 hospitals worldwide. It has translated the Holy Qur’an in over 70 languages. It propagates Islam’s true teachings through a 24 hour satellite television channel (MTA), the Internet (alislam.org) and print (Islam International Publications). The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at has been at the forefront of worldwide disaster relief through an independent charitable organization, Humanity FIrst.
